Black Codes / Jim Crow Laws

Jim Crow Laws were local  laws in the south passed to make separate but equal facilities for each race.

The Freedman's Bureau

The Freedman's Bureau is a Government bureau made to help the newly freed slaves, for example, by teaching them politics and enrolling the children in school.

The 15th Amendment

The 15th amendment gave newly freed slaves who were now citizens the right to vote.

Life of A Sharecropper



A Sharecropper is a former slave who has been "freed" and does the same work as they did while they were in slavery but the only difference is that they get paid for what they do. Then they are expected to pay the owner of the land for the house they stay in and the food they eat.
